what a joy to be alive

a.k.a. skips is a queer transgender man from San Francisco, currently residing in Los Angeles. He is a self-taught artist focused primarily on mixed media painting, drawing on skills acquired as a teenage participant in the Bay Area graffiti scene to create equally playful and powerful pieces. skips’ work is first and foremost an exploration of self - a pursuit that brings together angels and demons, generational trauma and his own inner child. He draws upon both the simple and surreal to examine these disparate elements of self together, and the whole that they form. The result is a series of emotionally charged works that are both deeply personal, and widely relatable.
